• Why should I become a member?

  Bat Conservation International (BCI) has been a leader in the conservation of bats and their ecosystems for more than 40 years. To be on the front lines of bat conservation takes considerable resources. When you join BCI, you provide critical, ongoing investment in proven, research-based solutions in preventing bat extinctions, such as protecting and restoring bat habitats, conducting field research to find solutions to the most critical threats, and training the future generation of field experts in bat conservation.

• How do I schedule a visit to Bracken Cave Preserve?

  Details on scheduling a visit are available here. Please note that we cannot guarantee a visit to every member due to the extreme popularity of Bat Flights.

• Why is there a fee to visit Bracken Cave Preserve when I’m a BCI member?

  As with any important habitat, there’s ongoing expense associated with keeping it healthy and thriving.  The admission fee charged to visit the Preserve helps to directly cover the expenses (e.g., habitat restoration, cave maintenance, staff salaries, and infrastructure upkeep) associated with maintaining the cave and 1500+ acres of important habitat that not only serve as the summer home  to millions of Mexican free-tailed bats, but also as the home to more than 1700 additional documented species, including many rare and endangered birds, plants, and fungi. While your annual membership allows BCI to continue to play a critical role in protecting bats and their habitats throughout the world, the entrance fee at Bracken ensures that the cave and surrounding area remain healthy and thriving, and that the critical wildlife conservation research conducted here continues uninterrupted.

• How do I update my contact information?

  If you have any updates to your mailing address, email address, name, etc., please email us at [email protected] and we’ll have your membership profile updated.

• How do I change the credit card or bank I use for my monthly membership or auto-renewal membership?

  To change your credit card or bank information for your automatically renewing or monthly membership, visit donor.batcon.org and edit your recurring donation. There, you can also review your recent giving history, make changes to the frequency of your donation, and more. If you need further assistance, please contact [email protected].

   

• How do I cancel my membership?

  We’ll be sorry to see you go, but if you need to cancel your membership for any reason, please email [email protected]. If you have a recurring donation, you can visit donor.batcon.org to cancel or temporarily pause your membership.
