BCI invites you to join us for a new educator/interpreter workshop this summer in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, or Tucson, Arizona. This one-day seminar is designed for both members and nonmembers who would like to take the next step in educating the public about bats. Participants will gain the tools necessary to effectively dispel myths about bats and instill an appreciation for these amazing creatures.
The day will be divided into a series of short lectures, demonstrations, and small working group activities, running from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a one-hour break for lunch. In addition to learning our most successful recipes for creating a public program, participants will review educational materials, learn how to facilitate several of BCI’s new bat lesson plans, assist in the construction of a bat house, discuss bat habitat on a group hike, and learn about bats of different regions using habitat range maps. Everyone will receive educational handouts, a reference workbook, a discount coupon for educational materials, and a certificate of completion.
After our fun-filled day draws to a close, participants will have the option of reconvening in the evening for a field trip during which we will see bats in action and learn about some of the methods scientists use to observe bats in the wild.
We hope you can join us for this all-new workshop at one of the two sites generously donated by our cosponsors: the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, or historic Fort Hunter in Pennsylvania, a facility of the Dauphin County Parks and Recreation Department. Space is limited, so please register as soon as possible.
Choose your seminar from the following dates and venues:
Fri, June 26, Tucson, AZ
Sat, June 27, Tucson, AZ
Fri, August 28, Harrisburg, PA

The workshop registration fee is $35. We are able to bring you this opportunity at such a reduced price thanks to the underwritten support of the Bass Foundation.
