The authors provide an excellent introduction to South Australia’s 20 species of bats. The book is written at the layman’s level, but its primary usefulness will be for the beginning student who wishes to study bats. Its exceptionally well illustrated key, range maps, summary of basic knowledge and high quality color photographs will be useful to laymen and professional mammalogists alike. It also includes a brief list of references for further reading and a glossary. Available from South Australian Museum, North Terrace, Adelaide, South Australia 5000.
