Members stand at the edge of Bracken Cave watching the bats emerge at one of last years Members-Only Nights. The bats fly out of the sunken cave entrance, swirling in a tornado-like spiral until they rise above ground level and dart off into the sky in undulating columns that can be seen for miles.
After the overwhelming response to last years Members Nights at Bracken Cave, we knew we had to make these special visits an annual tradition. We hope that many of you can make the trip to the Austin-San Antonio area this summer so that we can share this token of our appreciation with you. Our private trips to the cave give participants a chance to meet other members and BCI staff, while beholding a sight that is unique on earth: the incredible dusk flight of the worlds largest known bat colony.
This years dates are the second Saturdays of each summer month, June 14, July 12, August 9, and September 13. These free member-appreciation nights are coordinated and hosted by Trustee and Bracken Cave Committee Chairman J. David Bamberger, with assistance from David K. Bamberger and the BCI staff. BCI members and immediate family (no guests or pets) are invited. See inside back cover for details.
BCI members interested in attending one of the Members-Only Nights on Saturday, June 14, July 12, August 9, or September 13 should contact Mr. David Bamberger, preferably by fax at (210) 868-4639, anytime, or by phone at (210) 868-7303 on Wednesdays or Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. CST. Please include in your fax your name, address, phone number, number of attendees, and your first and second choice of dates. Space is limited to a total of 50 people each night, so be sure to make your reservations as soon as possible.
Please dont contact the BCI office for reservations or cancellations. Mr. Bamberger has generously agreed to handle all arrangements in an effort to save BCI staff time and minimize confusion. After you have made a reservation, you will receive in the mail all information you need to make plans.
Reservations must be finalized through Mr. Bamberger for all four dates before May 1st. Please do not call after that date except to notify of cancellation.
