ON THE BACK

YOU MAY RECOGNIZE the unmistakable yellow-winged bat (Lavia frons) from the cover of our Fall 1995 issue. At that time we wrote that we were hoping to see this elusive species on the 1996 BCI Founder's Circle trip to Africa. Thanks to the expertise of our Kenyan guide, Paul Kobochi (pictured here), participants got to see yellow-winged bats on several occasions and saw 27 other bat species as well, not to mention a wealth of other African wildlife. Look for the story about our members' experiences in Kenya in the next issue of BATS.
