Board Update

BCI welcomes three new trustees. Mark A. Adkins of Los Angeles, CA, is a graduate of the University of Texas and Harvard Law School. He is founder and CEO of the largest phone-based network of taxicab companies in North America. Thomas Read, of Milwaukee, WI, is an American Airlines captain, and son of BCI's founding trustee, Verne Read. He volunteers with American's mentorship program and also donates flying time to hospital patients in financial need. Patsy Steves, of San Antonio, TX, succeeds her late husband Marshall [BATS, Winter 2000] as a BCI trustee and is especially involved with the Bracken Cave committee. The couple was recently honored with the World Affairs Council International Citizens of the Year Award for their many years of involvement in numerous arts and conservation efforts.
