Program Overview


0046725 BCI works through diverse partnerships and collaborations to conserve bat species and populations. We work with partners to conduct training workshops for scientists and conservationists and provide support to grow sustainable bat-conservation partnerships.

Goal
BCI works to ensure the long-term conservation of migratory, endangered and endemic species of bats throughout Latin America.

Program Objectives

Our objectives include:

  • Conservation of ecologically important migratory bats, including the Mexican free-tailed bat, Mexican long-nosed bat and lesser long-nosed bat;


  • Protection of threatened and endangered species throughout the region;


  • Conservation of endemic species of bats; and


  • Enhancing the capacity of local and regional partners to lead sustainable conservation, education and research programs.


Geographic Area
From Tucson south to Tierra del Fuego. Our programming extends southward from the border areas of Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas and encompasses all of Latin America and the Caribbean.
