Program Overview

Goal

BCI’s Bats and Wind Energy Program is working to develop solutions to minimize or, where possible, prevent mortality of bats at wind-power turbines. 

Program Objectives

BCI’s strategy centers on these key efforts:

• Lead research efforts under the auspices of the Bats and Wind Energy Cooperative (BWEC).



• Facilitate communication and outreach to decision-makers, natural resource professionals and the public.



• Provide professional expertise on policy and management issues (e.g., professional testimony, developing guidelines, serving on professional committees).



• Conduct training sessions on techniques and best practices for wind-energy development and bats.
