Global Rapid Response

The more BCI expands our partnerships and programming around the world, the more often we discover urgent needs for endangered and vulnerable bats. Global Rapid Response actions require funding in hand to respond quickly. If BCI can engage rapidly, we can often accomplish more conservation with less expense than in a rescue effort.

Global Rapid Response is very likely to include field expeditions, site conservation planning, and priority conservation actions. BCI’s on-line Wish List will announce specific actions that need your help and support.

Bats of Magazine Mine

Gifts Required = $5,000

Right now in southern Illinois, there is an urgent need at the Magazine Mine, a world-class hibernacula for ~50,000 federally endangered Indiana bats. The abandoned mine is collapsing and is in danger of closing, potentially trapping or excluding the hibernating bats. A specialized property appraisal is essential to move the mine into permanently protected status so it can be stabilized. BCI is seeking $5,000 to immediately order an appraisal.

BCI relies on the support of our amazing members around the world.

Our mission is to conserve the world’s bats and their ecosystems to ensure a healthy planet.

Please join us or donate so our work can continue.
