Your help with any of the following special needs would greatly increase our effectiveness. To make a donation, or for more information, please contact Bob Benson at bbenson@batcon.org
or at (512) 327-9721, ext. 27.
Laser Printer
Keeping up correspondence with our 14,000 members has become unnecessarily time-consuming for our administrative staff as their work waits in long printer queues. A new LaserJet HP4000N printer would significantly reduce the traffic jam and offer many time-saving features ($2,000).
Traveling Bat House Education Exhibit
A professional bat house exhibit could reach thousands of farmers and orchardists at organic farming conferences and other trade shows. Having a visually compelling exhibit will help these agriculturists understand how bat houses can be used to encourage integrated pest management. We would be grateful for donations toward the $650 cost of producing high-quality graphics for this exhibit.
Photo Equipment
With our bat house team spending increasingly more time in the field, a dedicated zoom lens is badly needed for documenting bat house projects for educational programs, publications, and exhibits. Our cost for a Canon 28-70 mm 2.8L zoom lens is $1,250.
Membership Database
After nine years with the same DOS-based software, we need to upgrade our membership database. The specialized new Windows-based program will produce more meaningful reports and give us greater flexibility in customizing mail-outs and tracking special member requests. We ask your help to offset the $4,500 expense of this new program.
Thank You
Many thanks to the Lawrence and Sylvia Wong Foundation of Three Rivers, MI; the Suehsdorf Family Trust of Sonoma, CA; Rosemary Holden of Ridgewood, NJ; and Charlotte Desilets of Washington, D.C., for contributions toward the purchase of a digital thermometer and Dell laptop computer system. We also extend our gratitude to Clint Miller of Arizona Public Service (utility company), who donated a 486 laptop computer to our North American Bat House Research Project and to Helen Mackensen of Buena Vista, CA, for fulfilling our request for field equipment luggage.
